The World’s Thinnest Cast Acrylic Sheet: What Is It, and How Do You Get It?

16th October 2024

For over 25 years, we’ve specialised in supplying, coating, and fabricating the thin cast acrylic sheets, also known as thin acrylic sheets. While the typical thickness is around 1/16 inch (1.5 mm), we can provide sheets as thin as 0.020 inches (0.5 mm). These ultra-thin acrylic sheets are commonly used in applications like display enhancement, display covers, lenses, and architectural model-making.

If you’re looking for specific dimensions, properties, or colours, we can customize thin acrylic sheets to meet your needs. We also offer surface coatings like our Optiguard™ range, which enhances scratch and abrasion resistance.

How Are Thin Acrylic Sheets Made?

Our very thin clear PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) sheets are produced using the casting process. This involves pouring liquid PMMA resin into a mould, which is then polymerized into solid sheets. This technique ensures the highest optical clarity and uniform thickness, making it ideal for sheets as thin as 0.5 mm.

Why Choose Panel Graphic?

While several manufacturers, including Plexiglas, Acrylite, and Evonik, offer thin acrylic sheets, availability can vary by region. For the thinnest options (under 2.0 mm), it’s essential to consult a specialist supplier. At Panel Graphic in the UK, we have the expertise and capability to deliver thin acrylic sheets that meet even the most demanding specifications.

Our Optical Grade thin cast acrylic sheets.
