Line Bending is the process of forming plastics such as PMMA, PETG, HIPS in a straight line.
The Process
The flat pattern is machined on one of our large format CNC routers. We ensure all components are supplied with safe and smooth precision cut edges.
Before the plastic can be bent, our CR Clarke Line bender will heat a localised strip; which softens up the material allowing the plastic to be bent at an angle. The heated plastic is then placed into an angle jig, and then held in position until the material has cooled down.
Applications
There are many applications for this process such as:
-
- Acrylic Shelves & Leaflet holders.
Each formed component is finished with a beautiful polished edge.
Why is Line Bending so important?
Bespoke automated production equipment such as food processing & packaging lines often require safety Guarding.
Clear vision guarding enables operators to constantly monitor machine performance, and ensure all required cleanliness levels are maintained.
Panel Graphic have invested in the latest technology to provide our customers with high quality transparent guarding, and have been supplying manufacturers of automation systems with protection panels for many years.
Line Bending is often favoured over other means as is doesn’t require tooling, unlike drape or vacuum forming processes.
Materials
The materials we use offer several advantages and can possess additional benefits such as:
Finishes
Finish your plastic parts with a Surface Coating, or polished edges for the ultimate look.
